What Does It Matter?

People keep asking, what are you having,
"I don't know" is our only reply,
Which must be a strange answer since
It always prompts the question why.
"What does it matter?"
"Don't you think it makes a difference?"
"Sure there is a difference.
There is all the difference in the world
Between a little girl and a little boy,
And even more as they grow
to be women and men,
but there is a difference
between difference and preference,
and so either we'd equally abide,
so what is there to prepare for
or waste a single care for,
since neither of us gets to decide,
and despite what many think
nor does he (or she),
and it's better that way,
"What does it matter?"
